II Voices | Raquel by Claudia Vargas Vega
Voices | Voces
This year's story
“It is the silence that speaks to me, and I answer back.” At night, the whisper of souls crying out for justice travels with the wind and the sand in the desert.
As part of a local circus, Raquel -a cis woman played by Karina Gentile- and Desiré -a transgender woman- form a loving romantic couple. One night in December, Raquel and Desiré are savagely attacked, raped, and separated by a group of heartless police officers.
Since then, and after several events full of injustice and pain, Raquel undertakes a tireless and repetitive search driven by her love and a thirst for justice with a taste of revenge. In her eagerness, she will receive spiritual guidance leading her to discover secrets that will lead the story to a transcendental outcome.
An original play by Claudia Vargas Vega, with an experimental-surreal direction by Edwin Yumar, and under the production of Open Scene, delve into the search with RAQUEL.
